TO: USC Deans, USG, GSG, Academic Senate, Staff Assembly, Council of Academic Advisors

FR: Sarah Van Orman, M.D., Chief Health Officer, USC Student Health; Winston B. Crisp, Vice President for Student Affairs

CC: AAU Task Force

Last week, many members of campus—students, faculty, staff—attended the town hall discussions on the results of the 2019 AAU Campus Climate Survey on Sexual Assault and Sexual Misconduct.

As the co-chairs of the AAU Task Force appointed by the Office of the Provost, we want your communities to know this is only the beginning of the work to improve prevention, intervention, processes, culture, education, and support services. For schools, student organizations, and program communities who would like to have presentations and facilitated discussions, we are hoping to engage with as many groups as possible as we formulate recommendations that are formally presented in the spring.

Please reach out to us at studenthealth@usc.edu (subject line: AAU Task Force) to let us know if a schoolbased, student organization-based, or program-based discussion is of interest to your community and we will work with you on scheduling.

We also recognize that Tuesday’s discussions prompted many to have thoughts on this difficult, and highly personal topic—if you or members of your communities would like to express thoughts to share, please contact us at email studenthealth@usc.edu (subject line: AAU Task Force) and your message will be shared with the members of the AAU Task Force.

Campus resources are also available to help members of our university community who may be struggling, and would like to ask for help. Counseling and Mental Health Services, USC Student Health, 213-740-9355 (WELL)—24/7 Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention and Services, USC Student Health, 213-740-9355 (WELL)—24/7 Center for Work and Family Life, (213) 821-0800 Trojans Care for Trojans through the Campus Support and Intervention Office (213) 740-0411.

It takes all of us to become a better community, to listen to and support one another, heal, and change our university for the better. We look forward to working together with you on this goal.
